Accessibility Declaration
Accessibility Declaration
We at niceshops GmbH are committed to making our website accessible, as required by the Accessibility Act (as amended), which implements the European Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2019/882) on the accessibility requirements for products and services.
This statement applies to the website www.playpolis.co.uk.
For more information about entering into a contract with us, along with a description of our services and details on how they are carried out, please visit: https://www.playpolis.co.uk/info/agb
Status of Compatibility with the Requirements
This website is partially compliant with Level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1" and with the applicable European standard EN 301 549 due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.
Non-Accessible Content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
a) Non-compliance with accessibility regulations
This content does not currently fully comply with the requirements, but is constantly being revised or is already being implemented:
WCAG success criterion 1.3.1 structural elements such as headings, forms and table labels are not yet correctly labelled in some cases, but are being successively amended. Some content is not yet structured in a logical reading order in the code, e.g. in flexible layouts (WCAG 1.3.2). The input purpose (WCAG 1.3.5) of most form fields is already correctly stored in the code and is recognisable for assistive technologies. A clear, machine-readable purpose for individual fields, such as the button to subscribe to the newsletter, is currently still missing. Revision and improvement of these input fields are planned and will be implemented shortly.
PDF documents that are non-accessible are available for download on the website. If you need help with PDF documents that are non-accessible, please contact uk@playpolis.com. In this case, we will endeavour to make the content available to you in a suitable format as far as possible.
The requirements for sufficient contrast in text (1.4.3) and non-text content (1.4.11) in compliance with WCAG Level AA have not yet been consistently met across the website. A gradual revision to improve readability is in progress. The requirement for reformatting at high magnification without loss of information or functionality (1.4.10) has been largely met; the content remains usable even at high zoom levels. The requirements for the accessibility of additional content on mouseover or keyboard focus (1.4.14) - for instance, for the rating information or in the checkout area - are currently being technically implemented in order to enable users with motor or visual impairments to make full use of the website.
Keyboard operability (WCAG 2.1.1) is generally available on the website. Most functions can be used without a mouse, but there are still minor limitations with individual elements that are currently being rectified. Not all pages have clear titles currently (WCAG 2.4.2); standardisation is in progress. The structure and labelling of headings and form fields (WCAG 2.4.6) is also being continuously revised in order to improve comprehensibility and usability for all users. Furthermore, interactive symbols such as close buttons are not yet consistently labelled with a machine-readable name in the code (WCAG 2.5.3); these labels will be added successively.
For individual elements, there are currently still context changes when focusing or selecting, which do not fully meet the requirements for accessibility. For example, automatic content changes can occur when selecting product variants (WCAG 3.2.1, 3.2.2). These functions are currently being revised to enable unrestricted use with assistive technologies. Error messages in forms are already available visually, but are not yet correctly accessible for screen readers in all cases (WCAG 3.3.1). Furthermore, interactive control elements are gradually being provided with clear semantic roles (WCAG 4.1.2) to ensure usability with assistive software.
b) Disproportionate burden
Some requirements currently represent a disproportionate economic and organisational burden. This includes, in particular, the complete barrier-free implementation of all non-text content (1.1.1), as our online shop contains a huge number of images and visual elements that were published before 28 June 2025. The same applies to audiovisual content: subtitles and audio descriptions are gradually being added for recorded videos (1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.5), but complete post-processing of all existing content is currently not possible due to resource-related reasons. Content from third-party providers (e.g. YouTube) is also beyond our scope. Live videos (1.2.4) are not currently used and are not planned. In addition, the correct language labelling of individual foreign-language text sections (3.1.2) poses a particular challenge, as our product catalogue contains a large number of multilingual terms and product names. Complete manual labelling would involve a disproportionate amount of effort, which is why optimisation is being carried out step by step. For economic and organisational reasons, it is also not yet possible to make all PDF documents and Office documents (etc.) barrier-free.
The listed incompatibilities with the accessibility regulations are being rectified on an ongoing basis.
c) Content that does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions
This website contains older documents and content that do not meet accessibility standards. As these were published before 28 June 2025, they are exempt from the Accessibility Act and comprehensive changes to them are currently not planned.
This website contains documents and content from third-party providers that have not been created, financed or controlled by us. No declaration can be made about the compatibility of this third-party content with accessibility regulations.
Preparation of the Accessibility Declaration
The compatibility of this website with the Accessibility Act (BaFG) was assessed on several levels: through an internal self-test based on WCAG 2.1, through a practical test with a blind user with practical experience in dealing with assistive technologies and through an independent audit by an external body.
The accessibility declaration was first created on 22 May 2025.
